Cassandra: There's only one reason Christian girls comes down to the Planned Parenthood.
Roland: She's planting a pipe bomb?
Cassandra: Okay, two reasons.

Saved! is a hilarious comedy sending up the worst of ultra-Christian culture and education. I'd like to describe it more but it must be seen to be believed. Ultimately it's about faith and about reconciling what happens in life with one's beliefs. And in that it does its job well.

A conveniently appropriate quote was posted by one of my favorite bloggers, Slacktivist, yesterday,

Rule of thumb: Whenever you hear the most enthusiastic proponents of abstinence-only sex education saying that sex is "sacred," understand that what they really mean is that sex is profane.

I really enjoyed that movie as well. Probably more because I grew up in Virginia Beach, which is basically the capital of American evangelicalism... and I was raised Southern Baptist. :)

My mother grew up in Western Kentucky where the local Southern-Baptist pastor thought all women should be home, barefoot, breastfeeding, and pregnant.

I didn't get much church in my upbringing. :-)

I've seen this movie too, and I completely agree ... it is fantastic! I, thankfully, was not raised in a bible-thumping environment.

Yeah, I was going to recommend it to you, until I saw you had already seen it.

I've also seen it and found it quite hilarious, since I spent four years at an Evangelical private college, heh.

Hilary: I am filled with God's love! *throws Bible at Mary, smacking her in the head*
Mary: *snatches Bible* This isn't a weapon, you idiot!
