He can use light switches (if he can reach them).

He can flush the little toilet at daycare.

He can unlatch the dishwasher.

He can turn on a stove burner.
So we all went to Circuit City to get my wife's old portable CD player serviced. It turns out her parents had bought an extended warranty and had kept it going for the past seven years.

But, what the heck, it meant we could get it serviced for free and that's all good, right? Well, they don't make that CD player any more, so we couldn't get it fixed. So we got a brand new one. We couldn't upgrade, to say an MP3 player, and portable CD players don't cost nearly as much as they used to but, in the end, I think I'm glad they did it.

However the service was horrible. Customer service at Circuit City is a disaster. Not only was it a disaster at the service counter, we couldn't find anyone to talk to about which CD player we should replace it with!

So if we were thinking of buying a new one, there was no one to talk to.

It ended up taking much longer than we expected, getting Matthew home at bedtime instead of bathtime. So he got to stay up late.
So while we were out on our little jaunt, Matthew and I had the run of the store while my wife was dealing with her CD player. About 30 feet from the front door is the beginning of the DVD section. On the main aisle are the television series DVDs

By the way, I think television-series-on-DVD may be the greatest innovation of the DVD revolution.

So we were walking along there and Matt turns to see, at his eye level, the boxed set for The O.C. Season 2. He's never seen an episode of The O.C.. Heck, I've never seen an episode of The O.C.. He immediately snatches it up and makes a beeline for the door.

I didn't think kleptomaniacal tendencies started this early...
