Okay, I know some in the my friend's football pool who guessed dates after the official due date are going to be disappointed. But I think it's better this way.

I also know a couple of friends who had birthdays yesterday, including [livejournal.com profile] zesh, who are disappointed that the baby did not arrive yesterday.

Yesterday was the most recent Ob appointment, where my wife still appears to be in the same state of "readiness" that she's been since last week. No progress, but no backslide. Really, it's up to the baby to decide it's ready to come. Everything else, so to speak, is preprared.

But, my wife is still suffering from dizzy spells, and she eats a healthy diet, so that has our Ob little concerned. So they decided to discuss induction. After assessing the risks, the basic decision was, "Yes, we want to go with this." I think it's the right one. However, there are some complications with that.

The physician wanted to schedule the induction for September 27. But there were three inductions, all post-term, scheduled for that day. The next idea was to schedule it for this Friday. However that's slightly before the generally agreed "safe" time to induce birth. So the induction has been scheduled for October 4.

Unless the baby makes up its own mind first..
