The moment that you keep waiting for...

I'm not in a rush, nor is my wife to any extent. But once you hear words like, "Is your bag packed," you tend to operate with a little stress at all times. Any moment now could be THE moment.

At her appointment this week, the Ob told my wife that she was somewhere between 2-3 cm dilated and 70-80% effaced. These are good things, because that may indicate an easier labor down the road. It can take a woman several hours of painful labor to even get this far. And we may avoid it before even beginning.

But it's another reminder of just how close you are to seeing the child that you're about to bring into the world. It's another reminder that you are about to become a parent, and how much you're not ready for it. And that can weigh on you.. believe it or not. ;-)

Speaking of weight, there was one item of concern though only a minor one. By the Ob's estimate, the baby may weigh as much as seven pounds already. That's a healthy sized baby, but I have a small sized wife. That could mean some issues down the line. We'll know more after next week's appointment.
