Just a couple things really.
One, there was a sonogram taken. So we have an idea of what the sex will probably be. It's not foolproof, unlike an amniocentesis which is a little more risky.
Two, my child definitely enjoys moving. There is a commonly recommended test to see if your child is active. Namely, during their active periods, you should check to see if you feel movement of at least ten times during an hour. My wife can usually finish counting movements by, oh I dunno.. sixty seconds. So the baby likes to be felt; the baby likes to move. My wife says the child will be a kung fu artist or a timpanist. There is a good solid rhythm to the kicks or punches to my wife's stomach.
Three, my child hates doctors. Well, we're not too sure of this. But whenever the Ob suggests doing an external sonogram, the baby conveniently finds a place in the womb to hide. It often takes several minutes for the physician to find the heartbeat. There's never been any concern for the baby's health. In fact my wife can often feel the child moving while this is going on. But when my baby doesn't want to be heard, it won't. The word ninja is often bantered about when it comes to this phenomenon
Four, since this doesn't reveal anything, the child will definitely get a chance to try soccer. I don't know if they'll be any good at it. But whether she grows up being an Abby Wambach and Mia Hamm fan, or he a Landon Donovan and Freddy Adu fan, they'll get a good dose of soccer from their parents. Of course I suppose they could be a girl and a fan of Landon Donovan or a boy and a fan of Abby Wambach. Personally I think Abby's pretty darn cute. Though my wife my not like that I said it. ;-)
Five, prosaic and cliche as it is, I know that both my wife and I will love this child no matter who it is, from the moment we first see them.
