I never understood how Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scott are going to interact with the rest of the bridge crew (Uhura, Sulu, Chekov). While I can see the first four being in the academy at the same time, or in overlapping classes, the other three ought to be many years back, right?

Or am I overthinking this?
