Looking good so far..
Oct. 26th, 2005 08:32 amWell, after a comedy of errors in getting the contract to our agent, we appear to have a solid offer on the table. We just need to follow-up with the last few showings and make sure they're not interested. They want to settle a few days after we do on our new home, which is manageable, but I have to figure out the financing.
Things are looking good...

Busy house weekend - Update
Oct. 25th, 2005 09:39 amWe were essentially run out of the house this weekend. Oh, I said that..
One of the people from this weekend is faxing an offer now. Another person saw the house yesterday and apparently "fell in love" with it...
We'll see how this goes...
Feeling very nervous at this point...
Cross your fingers please. But not while you type that's hard to do.

Can't sleep...
Oct. 11th, 2005 12:33 amI keep worrying about the numbers. The numbers don't lie (in this case). They say we can afford this, but still, I worry. A lot..
I keep thinking maybe I'm looking at them wrong.. there's no way we should be able to afford such an expense.
But they seem to make sense...

Taking the week off..
Oct. 3rd, 2005 10:08 amTaking (at least part of) the week off to de-clutter the house in anticipation of putting it on the market.
Don't laugh.
Especially not you,

So why am I panicking?
Sep. 28th, 2005 10:42 amThe big answer is, because I've never done a house to house sale before. My current house is the first one I've ever owned.
This causes a problem.
You see, we're buying the new house in anticipating of being able to sell our current one. We're anticipating converting the equity of our existing house into the downpayment on our new one.
So let's say that that happens. We settle the sale the existing house before settling on the new house. Then we've either got to rent back our own house so that we can move our stuff from one place to the other, or we have to find some place to store our stuff and live out of suitcases. That latter option would be... ...difficult with a one year old.
But what if we don't settle on the old house first? Then we have no money to pay for the new house and have to get what is called a "bridge loan". It does exactly what it sounds like it would do, it bridges the gap between the two events. However, because it's short term it's usually very high interest. After all, the lender wants to make his money.
Nevermind that our house is in no shape to show. I anticipate taking the early part of next week off to work on that problem.

They accepted the offer.
Twitch twitch...
Sep. 26th, 2005 08:00 pmWe put an offer down on a different house, this one was more than the other one...
Grr....umph...
Aug. 29th, 2005 02:10 pmWell, we didn't get the house. Someone else put in a higher bid. While I'm not happy we didn't get the house, I am happy we didn't pay more than we offered. It's still unnerving to think of how much money we're considering committing.

The Price of Freedom
Aug. 23rd, 2005 09:09 amA close friend of mine,
iridium_wolf, equated my life to giving into The Matrix. I've got a 9 to 5 job (8 to 4 actually) a mini-van, a spouse and child... ( italics-happy musings on where I'm headed )
