Gee.. thanks [livejournal.com profile] yerbrainondrugs, for kicking my ass at Mare Nostrum this evening.

Okay, so a good friend of ours came back east from California to visit and go to the Redskins game...er...today. So [livejournal.com profile] kyriotate put him up for the evening and we tried out the game above.

[livejournal.com profile] yerbrainondrugs and [livejournal.com profile] kyriotate had played it before. The rest of us, had not.

I saw [livejournal.com profile] yerbrainondrugs' attack coming, but I didn't have the units to defend appropriately, having unwiseley spent for a Wonder a turn before. Oh well, live and learn I suppose. I did quite enjoy the game though.

In addition I heard about a different game, Ticket to Ride which I apparently need to try. I have a feeling, from those playing it, that it would be the kind of game [livejournal.com profile] iridium_wolf would like.

Apparently the Europe version is the way to go.

A busy day

We went to my in-laws so that my wife could (belatedly) make a quilt for Matthew's birthday. It's a Cars quilt and she wasn't sure if she could handle it on her own, hence consulting with her Mom.

Meanwhile I was on Matthew duty and we had a reasonably good time by ourselves, even if he wouldn't nap. He always has a hard time napping there. Of course, he has a hard time falling asleep anywhere, so we typically take him for a drive. But getting him out of the van is difficult and there's a long, very bright, sun exposed walk to my in-laws' house.

Oh well.

The Redskins game was entertaining, the Ravens game was not, even though they won.

My fantasy football teams are going to explode practically any moment, when Travis Henry gets suspended for using illegal substances.

Sigh...

The quilt turned out nice though.
