Exhaustion...
Jun. 19th, 2006 07:10 pmI spent the weekend on the road. Consequently, I spent my birthday today, on the road.
You see, some very good friends of mine (
grillables and
dibalh) were getting married in Massachusetts yesterday. We were supposed to drive up with
josabry and her husband, but things got in the way.
First, my wife's surgery, minor but has a long recovery time, kept her from being able to travel. Then Matt acquired a virus and shared it with me. I probably could have taken him with me if I were well. But I didn't sleep much the nights leading up to our departure last Friday so I wasn't capable of handling him alone and didn't think it was right to impose on my travel mates that much.
We spent Saturday with
josabry's parents and then went to the wedding yesterday. Afterwards we saw Cars, which was good, but not groundbreaking, which I guess is a letdown for Pixar.
That left today for driving back. And, let me say, that it is not the most exciting trip on the map. At least it's over.
Oh and my wife got me a Robert Johnson boxed set, the first season of the new Doctor Who on DVD (when it releases on July 4), and the recent John Belushi memoir, aptly titled Belushi, by his widow. A nice birthday haul all and all.
