Two for the price of one..
Jun. 12th, 2005 10:04 pmToday was the thirtieth birthday party for my brother-in-law-in-law Jeff. Knowing that that would take up the afternoon we were certain that Matthew would need at least one nap this morning.
But I'm getting ahead of myself.
Matt's been struggling with naps for a while. While he'll lay down quite easily for sleep at night and, thankfully, usually sleep all the way till at least five in the morning, he doesn't nap well. So we had decided to get tough. We would do what we do at bedtime, lay him down awake and give him 15 minutes to fall asleep. On Saturday this worked like a charm.
Today, it didn't work so well. When we laid him down to sleep, he cried and sobbed and wailed. That's the usual. But within 10 minutes he's usually done. At 15, when I came in, Matt was sitting up in his crib. I have no idea how he did it, actually. I've seen him pull himself up to standing, but never to sitting. I'm a little concerned that he might have gotten standing and then fallen to this position. But sitting up is a good thing. I'll take it.
He did it again when we tried laying him down later in the morning as well. So much for that nap plan.
The other item developed while at the party. The first of his upper teeth appears to be breaking through finally. He's been fussing over it for a bit. So this is a good thing. Though he did surprisingly well on cheerios and green beans with only his two front bottom ones. :-)
