Rise! Rise, I tell you!
Jun. 7th, 2005 01:35 pmSo this morning Matthew pulled himself into standing completely on his own for the first time. He used something to pull up on, but it wasn't like we helped him. It's definitely one of the "Yes!" moments.
It's also one of the, "Oh god, we really need to childproof!". moments.
He's been a very mobile fellow for a while. Though he can't really crawl, he can creep (move by pulling with his hands) and roll just about anywhere he wants to. He's also a pretty good cruiser (walking with the assistance of an object like a table). Both of these are somewhat disturbing.
His cruising does have one slight flaw; he's not great when it comes to rounding corners. So he's found a workaround. He steps away from the support, forcing us to support him, and then walks around the corner. He's sneaky.
He, now that we've put a big Megabloks container in the living room with the table has a habit of wanting to walk between them. He can't do that yes. He also thinks he can stand without assistance. So he'll grasp a toy in each hand and try and step away from whatever is keeping him up. He can't, but he tries.
