Accepting "Leak"
Oct. 9th, 2004 09:39 pmWe had my wife's Aunt, Uncle, and their two sons (aged 11 and 15) over this evening for dinner. It was a nice change of pace. We even ate on the main floor for the first time in a long time. They brought over barbeque from Red, Hot, & Blue and we enjoyed a peaceful evening at the table together.
Well ourselves, her Uncle and two sons, enjoyed a peaceful evening together. Angela's Aunt simply HAD to hold the baby, and refused to allow it to be set down in the Pack N Play we had set up downstairs. She was there playing with it, smiling at it, gurgling at it, etc etc, for hours. It was absolutely amazing.
It's funny to think that her own sons were a mere 3 and 7 when we first began dating. I can remember how young they were back then, but it still seems like they've always been the same age, whatever they were when you saw them. I've begun to realize just how much "leaks" out of your brain when it comes to information about people. These two young men are not the boys I first met, but they still seem to be the same people.
But leak is now an everyday part of life. Whether it's my son's diaper, my wife's spine, or my son's bottle, it's a natural course of things. You just accept it. If you worry about every leak, then you just go insane. Best to accept the small drips and worry about the floods. Even if you're scared you'll lose something in the process.
