In a Foul Mood

So yesterday the Senate up and completed Congress' capitulation over the FISA bill. Most insulting, even beyond Senator Mikulski's constant support of telecom immunity and FISA expansion, was (presumptive) Democratic Presidential nominee Obama's support.

I've not pushed the button yet on contributing to Accountability Now" but I'm sorely tempted to.

This issue has turned me from being encouraged by Obama's prospects and motivated to participate, to being willing to vote for him but that's as far as it goes.

Thank goodness McCain doesn't even understand how Social Security works, otherwise I'd have to really evaluate him as a candidate.

I agree ... my level of encouragement matches yours ... though, saying that, I don't think there's anything that reasonably would happen that would get me to vote for McCain.

And I will note, that even though I'm going to have to never vote for Mikulski again, we at least have Cardin, who stood against the whole damned thing from the beginning and never let us down.

And, on a slightly more depressing note, Clinton also voted the correct way every opportunity she had. I seriously hope I didn't back the wrong person.

I take back thinking Clinton would have been better then Obama ... I think this vote of hers was an uncharacteristic bout of good taste on her part as far as national security matters goes.

I'm not surprised. He had to appear one way to get the democratic nomination, and he needs to appear a different way to win the presidency. The only thing that's different about him is that lots of people assumed he wasn't actually a politician.
